Techniques to know:
Simple lace, German short rows, working in the round, smocking (wrap stitch), increasing and decreasing, binding off, backward loop cast on.
Yarn:
Sport or Dk weight held single or fingering + lace held double.
Sample 1 (long sleeve version) was worked in Cape May Fiber Co. Merino Cashmere Silk (75% superwash merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk, 245 yds per 100 g skein) in Pink Clay - 4 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 6) skeins.
Sample 2 (3/4 sleeve version) was worked in:
Campolimi Filati Trilli (100% merino) in color 835 - 5 (6, 6, 6, 7) (7, 8, 8, 9) 50g balls and:
Campolmi Filati Super Kid (70% kid mohair, 30% polyamide) in color 2430 - 4 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 6) 25g balls.
Note: These two yarns are held together throughout.
Approximate yarn amounts (3/4 sleeve):
Single strand: 750 (800, 850, 915, 985), (1060, 1135, 1225, 1325) yds. / 686 (732, 777, 837, 901) (969, 1037, 1120, 1212) meters
Double strand: 775 (875, 875, 940, 1010), (1110, 1185, 1275, 1375) yds / 708 (800, 777, 860, 924) (1014, 1084, 1165, 1253) meters of fingering weight yarn held together with: 775 (875, 875, 940, 1010), (1110, 1185, 1275, 1375) yds / 708 (800, 777, 860, 924) (1014, 1084, 1165, 1253) meters of lace weight yarn.
Long sleeves will require approximately 10 - 20 additional grams of yarn.
Gauge (on main needle):
20 sts, 28 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in st st,
36 st front panel = 6”/ 15 cm, 14 st sleeve panel = 2”/ 5 cm.
Needles:
Main needle: US Size 6 (4 mm) 16”/ 40.5 cm, and 24” / 61 cm or longer circular needles or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
Edging needle: US Size 4 (3.5 mm) 16”/ 40.5 circular needle and dpns or needles two sizes smaller than main needle.
Notions:
5 Stitch markers, 4 for raglans and one distinct for the beginning of the rnd, cable needle or dpn for wrapped sts.
